At 5:09 p.m. EDT, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Akihiko Hoshide entered the Kibo Japanese Pressurized Module for the first time. He was followed shortly thereafter by his fellow space shuttle and space station crew members. Hoshide floated towards a television camera with a sign that said "welcome" in both English and Japanese.
