While inspecting the space station's Solar Alpha Rotary Joint outer race ring, spacewalker Mike Fossum said "This is definitely a depression. It is definitely not a bump. The surface is rough, and feels different from the surrounding surface." This area had previously been inspected during the STS123 mission, but at that time the spacewalkers could not determine if it was a divot or a depression.
