Kibo's robotic arm,known asthe remote manipulator system, was tested today and is functioning as expected. Mission Specialist Akihiko Hoshide sent commands to checkout the arm's six joints. The arm was fully deployed to its full length of 33-feet. Perfect data was sent back to JAXA's flight control centerin Japan. The arm is now going back into its stowed position. It will not be used until Kibo's exposed facility is added to the station on the STS-127 mission.
