Late inspection underway

Using the orbiter boom sensor system, space shuttle Discovery's crew is performing its "late inspection" of the reinforced carbon carbon areas of the wings and nose cone. The data is being sent to experts in Mission Control, who will evaluate the condition of Discovery's heat shield. This is a standard inspection that occurs near the end of every shuttle mission.
