My son and I just finished watching "When We Left Earth" on Discovery. It appears to me that with the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11 next year, and the success of several of these independent film documentaries, we may be seeing a public embrace of our space efforts. Lord knows we need some good news, and a purpose to pull together. For those of you at the Cape today, do you feel we are capably led and challenged to achieve meaningful goals in space? If there is some authoritative advocate for the future role, I have not seen anyone step up yet. Too bad we can't someone the likes of Bill Gates to quantify the value of exploration.

I thought the series was excellent. Even if the original film footage was not widescreen, the upconversion was very good.

I do believe that the Cape is in good shape, even given the 'gap'. Yes, there will be layoffs, and yes, people are worried about the near future. Unfortunately, that is part of the space business. I actually never thought of my employment there a permanent job. I've been pretty lucky so far!
