    Default Me2...Showdown at the crossroads

It was a dark and stormy night and the air hung thick as they gathered at The Crossroads seafood joint. This was it... the score would be settled... I was gonna come face to face with Me2.

Okay... so there wasn't really any drama. Fact is, a while back I bet Me2 a Klyde Morris hat that the Ares I would not be canceled. It got canceled- I lost- I owed him a hat. Some NSFers were meeting at the Corssroads for the STS-135 pre-launch dinner and Me2 (AKA "Jim") was supposed to be there. I brought the hat all the way from DC just in case he showed up. He did- and he was directed to the table where I was sitting with several other folks- all of whom wanted to meet him. We introduced ourselves, smiled, shook hands, I handed him the hat, and told him he won, we laughed...

The next thing I remember there were two paramedics standing over me and my eye was swollen shut.

    No! I'm just foolin'.

In fact we got along as pals. He's a great guy with a ton of great stories. We all had major laughs and he and I found that we do, in fact, agree on a lot of stuff (Like the SA-5 for example). We also disagree on lots of stuff. We found that neither of us is the spawn of satin, however. We're just equally bullheaded I guess. I'm good at goading people and he's good at shutting them down... so what.

The bottom line for me is that I'm quite happy that I got to meet this individual who has been as big a thorn in my side as I have been in his, and thus sort of defuse a lot of cyber flamed stuff that had been built up over the years. We're gonna disagree over lots of stuff in the future but when it's all said and done or when it gets a bit too hot, he knows he can just PM me and say "Go f#$k yourself Wes" and I can reply "Pound sand Jim" and we can smile and let it go knowing we ain't never gonna agree on whatever it is.

Good to meet ya' Me2... now back to the goading and two word retorts.
