With respect, Rick, it's something of a rigged question. EELV and Diect needn't be mutually exclusive. In fact EELV and Ares-V could be run together if necessary.

IMHO, the possibility of shuttle extension, and preservation of the associated infrastructure, is a big boost to Direct, because it retains its essential advantage. Once the infrastrucure is destroyed, though, most of the advantage is gone.

Because I am a fair person and all around nice guy , I added your request to the poll.

It's kind of redundand however, as its awfully similar to option 2.
