Just before I retired from NASA as a Crew Survival Engineer, I managed to get in a requirement that the Service Module Engine would be large enough to keep Orion (and the crew :-) out of the North Atlantic if the upper stage failed on ascent. Does anyone know if this requirement is still in place. It might have gotten taken out to save weight.
